Here are a few things we felt you should know that didn’t make it into the manual. (There are NO changes to the installation instructions in the manual, so if you are in a big hurry to install Axis - go right ahead!)
Keeping Axis from Loading
------------------------
If you do not wish Axis to load at startup you can turn it off using the On/Off radio buttons. If you forget to do this and you wish to disable Axis during the startup process, hold down the Shift key or hold down the mouse button right before Axis should load. Regardless of which method you use to turn Axis off, the icon will be drawn at startup with an “X” through it to let you know Axis is disabled.
When Something is Wrong at Startup
--------------------------------
During startup time, if you notice the Axis icon with a skull and crossbones on it, then something is very wrong with Axis - perhaps one or more of its essential files have become corrupted. Use the installer from your master disk to reinstall Axis again. If the problem persists call Baseline technical support.
When Something is Wrong in a Game or is it?
----------------------------------------
It is possible to OVERCHEAT a game. For example, it is possible to increase the speed of your tank in Spectre Supreme™ to the point that you travel so fast that you can’t see the enemy. We can’t stop you from doing this, so cheat responsibly. (I can’t believe I just said that.)
Some games employ routines to update the screen which are slower than we’d like. So you may press a hot-key for a cheat and not notice a change on the screen until the game gets around to updating things. Don’t panic! A-Train™, for instance, will never _show_ changes to cash, credit, or budget until you close the banking dialog and reopen it again.
If you are attempting to cheat in a game and the game quits on you as soon as you press the hot-keys for a cheat, chances are it is because the game is a version that Axis hasn’t been designed to work with. Do us a favor; try it one more time and if the game still quits call our technical support line. We will really really want to know what the version number of the game is so we can get it and fix it.
How to Get Help
--------------
We have a technical support department available from 10 am to 4 pm CST at 901-682-9676 ext 110. Please understand that we will do our best to solve your problem in a timely manner. Yelling and screaming at our tech support people will not help, especially since we specialize in employing dysfuctional paranoid orphans on parole who don’t take kindly to loud voices. Otherwise we will bend over backwards to help you.
Don’t Forget to Make Suggestions
------------------------------
Because Baseline’s offices are actually a series of caves originally used by Choctaw native Americans and Civil War soldiers, our upper management has taken on the appearance of the blind albino cave fish. Needless to say they don’t get out much.
Therefore, to offset this unfortunate evolutionary liability, we need you to suggest games that are just crying out for cheating. Put them on your registration card and send it in.
Remember, we can’t give you technical support if you don’t send in your registration card. And much worse; we will shun you on the street every chance we can.
